Mission

OBey YouthCare’s mission is to provide adequate housing, nutrition, education and medical care to orphaned, abandoned, and neglected children. We want to empower these disenfranchised members of society and help them become independent, responsible citizens.

Vision

We see the future of OYC as a far-reaching program. Attaining this goal will be multi-faceted. First, an economically viable and sustainable system of care for a select number of children must be established. Once put into place, this system can be duplicated in various other communities worldwide, thereby expanding our current base of operations.

About Us

OBey YouthCare (OYC) is an international project under OBey Foundation. OBey Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization established and based in the U.S. in 1998. OBey Foundation established a chapter as a NGO (Non Governmental Organization) in Brenu Akiyinim, Ghana in 2004 under the direction of OBey Foundation’s Executive Director, Kojo Bey.

Kojo Bey met with the Chief and Elder’s Council of Brenu to discuss the needs of the village after purchasing land for the development of an OBey Healing retreat. Kojo Bey was informed that caring for the needs of the orphans and abandoned children was the first priority of the village.

OYC was established in 2004 and has sponsored nearly 200 orphans and needy children in school in Brenu Akiyinim, Ghana; and subsequently in 2008, OBey was entrusted by the Chief and Elders Council of Brenu with 20 acres of land to build a Youth Complex. OYC has indentified 50 orphans to provide ongoing care; given not only a loving and healthy living environment, but regular meals, an education, vocational training and medical care.
