Message from Director

Thirteen years ago I went to Ghana for the first time and instantly fell in love.  I fell in love with the white sandy beach of Brenu Akyinim.  I fell in love with the beautiful environment, the constant sounds of the ocean, and the warm welcoming energy of the people that live there.  I had been searching for a home in Africa and my instant connection with Brenu confirmed that I had arrived at the right destination.  I planned to build my home here.  But before creating a foundation on the land offered to me by the village, the community leaders expressed their challenges to me. They needed assistance with caring for the orphans and other needy abandoned children in the community.   It was like they had insight on how to pull on my heart strings.   We found that although this village was populated by less than 2,000 people, 70 percent of these youth were in their condition because of poverty and illness.

I started OBey Foundation to assist citizens throughout the world to improve their quality of life and the community.  Brenu Akyinim presented a perfect opportunity for me – I was welcomed by the village to build my family home among them AND was afforded a chance to immediately begin fulfilling my mission to offer assistance to children in need. I give thanks for the continued success of the program in Brenu, and am committed to extending our services to surrounding villages in the Central Region to affect positive change to the lives of as many children as possible.

The primary focus of OYC is to provide a healthy home for the orphaned, abandoned and needy children who are deprived of love, care, and an education. OBey Foundation will assist in this effort allowing them to grow and reach their highest potential in life.  OBey Foundation also seeks to support a safe haven for the children from unhealthy living conditions to allow opportunities for spiritual growth, and to help the children learn necessary social skills in a family atmosphere.
