What We Do
![]() |
OYC raises funds annually for the Educational Endowment Fund for orphaned and needy youth. The funds that we raise for this initiative are used to purchase uniforms, school supplies and food for the school year. OYC staff facilitates after school classes for the children in our programs. The after school program consists of homework tutoring, drum class, life skills and vocational training. OYC has partnered with local doctors to conduct scheduled exams and treatment sessions based on the needs of the children we care for.

OYC is committed to improving the living conditions of the children it cares for. Needs assessments are conducted by OYC staff of the existing homes and funds are allocated to correct unhealthy and unsafe conditions.
OYC also hosts mission and service groups who wish to volunteer, donate supplies and support our initiatives in Ghana.
We see the future of OYC as a far-reaching program. Attaining this goal will be multi-faceted. First, an economically viable and sustainable system of care for a select number of children must be established. Once put into place, this system can be duplicated in various other communities, thereby expanding our current base of operations.
OYC will dedicate the year 2010 and beyond to positively affecting the lives of the largest number of children possible. We will begin by expanding our current program to address the most immediate needs of Ghana's youth – healthcare and education.
Our immediate goals include:
- Purchasing farmland to raise crops to feed OYC children and to sustain our programs
- Constructing an office building to serve as a current base of operations and to support our staffing and administrative needs
- Expanding our OYC program to provide a larger number of needy children with education, healthcare, nutrition
- Helping to sponsor older youth throughout their senior secondary schooling (U.S. equivalent of high school)
